Handcrafted on the Colorado Plateau — where the high desert meets heart-made art.
I’m a retired nurse-midwife living in Montrose, Colorado, making things by hand in the high desert country I’ve called home for four generations. Art from the Hartt is a small, intentional studio — low volume, high detail, rooted in place.

High Desert Gnomes Hand-cast cement gnomes in seasonal colorways, Colorado collection pours, and specialty lines. Every gnome ships with a birth certificate — thirty years as a midwife leaves its mark. The Colorado Collection includes Black Canyon Painted Wall and Colorado Flag themes, with the Sesquicentennial series celebrating Colorado’s 150th anniversary in 2026.

Road Trip Planters Vintage trucks, VW bugs, buses, and trains — hand-cast in cement and painted by hand with full detail work including bumpers, mirrors, and Colorado green and white license plates. Small enough for a succulent, sturdy enough to last.

Mesa Stone Planters Hypertufa, cement, and painted terra cotta pots in high desert colorways. Including a small collection of terra cotta pots hand-painted with daylilies — because when you photograph and grow them for twenty years, they end up everywhere in your studio.

High Desert Wall Art Painted tile and wood clocks, tile trivets, and painted panels rooted in the landscapes of the Colorado Plateau.

High Desert Memorials Cement hearts and hypertufa leaf castings — with the option to incorporate pet hair or ashes into the mix. A quiet way to keep someone close.

Pearl Lake Heritage Collection Named for my grandmother, Pearl Hartt, for whom Pearl Lake State Park in Colorado is named. Pioneer sheep ranching, range wars, Butch Cassidy’s country. These pieces carry the history.

Coming Later This Year Ned Roberts Southwestern daylily coasters — hand-painted tiles featuring the Southwestern named varieties I’ve grown and photographed for years. If you found this site searching for a daylily name, there may soon be a coaster for it.
